The domain as listed in SQLNET.ORA parameter NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN will be appended to the name of the network service specified as long as the specified name does not have a "." character. Otherwise, an attempt is made to resolve the name as specified with no changes. If the service is not defined as being in your default domain, you will have to fully qualify the service name.
