I had problems doing the same from forms. Instead of passing (dbms_sql.native) I passed the value which I needed. DBMS_SQL.NATIVE is defined as a (constant integer := 1), DBMS_SQL.V7 is defined as (constant integer := 2). I passed a 1. This allowed my package to compile and execute. This is probably not a good idea but I needed it to work. I'll have to watch upgrades and make sure it still does what I want it to.
