Forms 4.5 and DDE

I am trying to get a Forms 4.5 application to send a signal to a VB 5.0
application via DDE. I got it to work on a windows 3.11 machine but now I
want to do it on an NT 4.0 machine and it won't work.
Any tips, pointers, alternatives would be greatly appreciated.
