Make sure the items are set to Enabled=TRUE. If you hide the item and then set it to displayed=true, it will be enabled=false.

Also, make sure your pc is running with 64K colors and not 256 colors. To check, use Windows 95: Settings, Control Panel, Display, Settings. The Color Palette should say High Color(16 bit), and not 256 Color.

I don't know why Forms uses only 16 colors at the 256-color setting, but that is what I have found to happen. The canvas and boilerplate colors use all the available colors, but not text items.
