Problems ACCENTS

Hi,
I'm having a lot of problems for type a string with FRENCH accents in the
table ORACLE. For example, when i type 'éé èè' in the ORACLE table i get
'ii hh', and i don't
know why ?
I would like to know if there is a solution or some tips in a ORACLE V6.00
(release 3.1.3.2.1). The server is a SCO V4.00 (release 3.2).
