As a Oracle DBA Performed the following duties :-
· Creating & Revoking Users and Monitoring them.
Assigning proper
roles to them as per their requirements.
· Creating roles with proper privileges and
assigning to database users..
· Creating new tablespace for new applications.
Monitoring them and adding &
dropping data files as and when required.
Relocating these tablespace and
data files based on the availability of space on
disk. To improve the
I/O, stripped the database to available disks to
distribute loads.
· Monitoring rollback & temporary segments for
their usage & availability.
Creating new rollback segments in RBS tablespace
and then updating
initializing file to activate these segments.
This activity is based on
continuos monitoring of transactions and processes
in the system. Set
optimal size for all rollback segments.
· Discussing & finalizing table structures with
project leader and team members. Creating these
tables in appropriate tablespace to minimize disk
contentions.
· Creating indexes and clusters to improve system
performance. Monitoring these indices for future
alteration on the basis of new applications based
on indexed tables and using these indices to the
maximum in applications.
· Creating sequences for common uses. Preparing an
overall schedules for backups. Shell scripts were
written to take Maintained weekly backups.
· Optimizing system global area and Shared pool
size by reconfiguring kernel after proper tuning.
· Monitoring dynamic performance tables to study
locks, etc. Killing
unnecessary processed and sessions blocking the
system.
· Tuning SQL statements, by using the tkprof and
explain plan utilities so as the data retrieval
path is optimized.
· Porting of Data from various sources using
Sql*Loader.
· Creation of Database triggers, Stored
procedures, stored functions and packages.
Developed the following systems using Developer
2000, SqlForms 3.0, Reports 1.1 and Sql*Menu 5.0
· Design and development of order processing
system using Oracle 7 and Developer 2000. The
system deals with the processing of purchase
orders. Tne order come through electronic mail
system and the system checks the privilege of the
sender and accepts the order. The system
facilitates to add, modify orders, keep track of
the credit limit of the customers, inventory
management and determine the delivery schedules.
· Customized Accounts Payable, Material
Management, General Ledger and Payroll and
Personnel modules.
· Involved in the development of payroll system.
· Involved in the development and implementation
of hotel management system. This system manages
local purchases, book keeping, billing, front
office, room reservations, kitchen inventory etc.
