I have been on linkedin quite a long time ... not terribly useful to me ... but our local oracle user group NEOOUG has a group that is "about" as social networking aware as a bunch of oracle geeks typically get.

Somehow I acquired skills or listed them perhaps ... been so long don't recall the details.

Some of my friends/contacts have endorsed me for some of these skills ... kind of nice ... thanks so much I guess.

However ... just today I saw one of my newest linkedin contacts ... someone I do not think I actually know from anywhere ( who sent me a connect request ) ... endorse me for a couple of skills. I tend to accept connection requests from people on linkedin unless I see that they are recruiters.

Anyway ... one of the skills that I some how have listed on linkedin is BI ... business intelligence. Not so much in reality at all ... I do have my partner DBA who handles the Data Warehouse schema design and management.

Anyhow my new linkedin contact endorsed me for BI and Unix skills. I am ok in unix and can hack stuff together and debug almost anything given time. Not bad I guess ... plus years and years of experience do help.

Kind of a strange world here where people do don't really know you at all are endorsing you for skills.

That's all I got for today ... sorry for the OT ramblings! Received on Fri Jan 25 2013 - 02:07:13 CET
