I'm 55. The severe arthritis hit 21 years ago. I've had other issues I tend not to talk about publicly. I do miss bicycling (did a few 100 milers) and hiking (did a few 50 milers and climbed a lot of peaks in the Sierras), especially now that my kids are old enough to appreciate it.
