Hello,
One of our consulting developers has designed a solution using Oracle's Change Data Capture (CDC, 10gR2 10.2.0.4 AIX64), since CDC is one of our guidelines in case of e.g. massive updates, where normally a trigger would be applied.
He has chosen to not create the CDC subscription and the subscriber view, however directly go to the publisher's change table.

The layout and contents of the subscriber view and change table indeed seems fairly similar.
However to keep track of what rows his programs have processed he deletes directly from the publisher's change tables, in stead of following the documented and standard way of purging the window of the subscriber view.

Though a creative approach, I cannot believe that this is how it can or should be applied.
Your opinion on this is appreciated.

Regards,
