Larry now sees money to be earned by selling the Oracle stack on top of Oracle's and RedHat's and Novell's volume Linux distributions and Scott now sees the money to be earned supporting MySQL and PostgreSQL on top of Sun's volume OpenSolaris distribution.

When enough of Larry's sales critters hear from customers that they're moving to MySQL or Postgres, Larry will commit to Solaris x64.

Until then, Solaris is not a first tier Oracle platform regardless whether Oracle's engineers prefer it as their development platform.
