You can patch separately the two installations for separate bugs i think, and this is what
Oracle consultants had said to me. I think also that your vendor is right, if you do not want
to have different versions of Oralce in the same box having separate OH for ASM increases
management complexity. If you have only one installation i think is meaningless pathch
db and not ASM or viceversa.
