There are pros and cons ( as I am sure you will see in the numerous other postings). Access (and virtually any screen/report builder) will have performance issues over "straight C/C++/whatever. However, Access is relatively "cheap" as screen/report generators go, and since it is GUI/WYSIWYG you can put together an application quickly. If nothing else, you can use it for prototyping and quickly refine your user interface. Some people help alleviate the performance issues by putting the most "recent" or more "actively accessed" information copied to the local Access tables at regular intervals, then "batch" the Oracle updates to run off hours.
