You can never have the same CPU in a PC (aka Intel architecture) and a Sparc machine. What am I missing here?

Sorry, Daniel I'm not getting you here either: with "server board" are you referring to "PC server boards" or "Sparc machines"?

Somehow I get the impression we are talking past each other: I contrasted Intel PC with Sparc machine and questioned the superiority of Sparc machines with regard to throughput (IO) but I fail to match your reply...
