Oracle self-study CD's

My company is considering rather to send someone to oracle training or
to purchase the oracle self study CD's.  No one at our company has
ever used the self study CD's but, we were told that in the past the
quality was mediocre.  Can anyone who has used these CD's speak to
their quality from both ease of use as well as coverage of relevant
concepts?
