Sorry I should have added that many people use "not replication" and "not dataguard" but disk subsystems ( like EMC ) that can be keep data in multiple places. Maybe you could try doing a google with words like emc srdf async etc. ( Synchronous also an option but has limitations with increasing distance ). Lots of bandwidth required? You bet.
