Position: Database Administrator cum Project Support Team Member

Location: Singapore

Duration: 6 months

This role undertakes to develop the Database/RDBMS infrastructure capabilities in order to meet the customers' project requirements and end-to-end project support, provide day-to-day operations support for Database administration and management, also responsible for second and third level technical problem resolution.

Primary Responsibilities:

 Job Description:

The job will be part of the Service Delivery team based in Singapore. The position will be reporting to the Service Delivery Shared Services Manager.

Expected Work:

The purpose of the role is to provide the Database skills sets required to design, assisting in the development of environments or development of procedures to improve environments, involve tuning of existing applications, implementation and support a range of DB2, MSSQL and Oracle/SQL related systems. He/she would also be expected to perform daily operations for Database administrations and Management. Providing Technical resolution on Database related reported problem.

Key Accountabilities:

Project Support - To provide technical advise and solutions for projects. To design and build Database environment in order to meet the customer's infrastructure requirements. He or she is required to provide end-to-end support for system DBA related scope during Database project implementation.

Operations Support - To follow the operational processes and procedures to ensure the integrity of the systems and services. To monitor the availability and performance of all managed databases.

Service Planning & Trend Analysis - To perform problem analysis, and analyse the trends and indicators of statistical data and recommend appropriate action to improve overall efficiency of the operation. To carry out pro-active maintenance in order to minimize unplanned outages and eliminate poor performance.

Service Improvement - To be responsible for the Databases environment, with the overall objective of improving service levels, simplifying the infrastructure, and reducing costs. To include Service model, backup strategies, Oracle Names Server, Database monitoring, performance tuning etc

To be a member of the "out of hours support" DBA team.

Change management:

This role is involved in changes to the operational infrastructure and its management - such as Oracle/SQL version upgrade or Oracle Software patch.

Key Skills Required

DB2 version 6.x to 8.x
Oracle versions 7.x 8I, 9I, 10g and Microsoft SQL2000/SQL2005 specifically.
Solid experiences in Database installation, creation, DB administration, backup, recovery, tuning and security. Knowledge of Oracle 7/8/9 on UNIX ( preferably Compaq Tru64 and IBM AIX) and NT/W2K
Upgrading and applying DB2, Microsoft SQL and Oracle Patches Migrating from Oracle 7 to Oracle 8.x and 8i.x and 9i.x and Oracle to SQL.
Expertise in design, implement and management of Oracle and SQL Server 2000 databases using related database management tools

Secondary Skills

Oracle Express Server and OFA/OSA -installation, client configuration
(SNAPI) , Express Server configuration using the server manager,
Import/export, Backup, and OES command line reference Oracle Enterprise Manager - OraTcl scripting, diagnostics pack and tuning pack.
UNIX, NT/W2K basic administration.

You will be a strong DBA for BD2 , SQL and Oracle with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in all of the above key skill areas and preferably one of the Secondary Skill areas.

You will have a strong customer service orientation, with attention to quality of service and responsiveness for both internal and external customers.
