There are examples in the Database Backup and Recovery Advanced User's Guide, available at tahiti.oracle.com and elsewhere. There's also some good books about the subject. Can't really give more precise advice without basic information like platforms and versions and configurations. See also http://www.dbaoracle.net/readme-cdos.htm#subj12 . Also, google this group, there have been some discussions here.
