Crusade against DB2? Don't flatter yourself. I used to work with DB2.

If you don't like my opinions and prognostication feel free to verify the facts yourself. Here are the totally objective numbers.

dice.com - Keyword DB2 3,409 jobs
dice.com - Keyword Oracle 16,782 jobs

monster.com - Keyword DB2 637 jobs
monster.com - Keyword Oracle >1,000 jobs

hotjobs.com - Keyword DB2 1,875 jobs hotjobs.com - Keyword Oracle 9,717 jobs

As a marketer or employee of IBM or Oracle I might care about benchmarks or license revenues: But I am not. I am an academic and consultant. For me it isn't about religion, or good vs. evil, or red vs. blue, or Larry vs. Godzilla.

These are the metrics that matter.
These are the metrics that fill my lecture hall. These are the metrics that pay my mortgage. These are the metrics that put food on the table. These are the metrics that pay college tuitions. They are the ONLY metrics that matter.

If you think that makes me an evangelist you are entitled to your opinion. But those that know me best know that helping Larry buy a new boat is not what gets me up in the morning.
