Your blather about 'Dark Lord' (and so on) misses the point of a Distro, which is to get a self-contained and tested packaging. And the moment you deviate from that, you do your own integration. Always been the case.
If you go for the Fedora set, you make a decision to do your own integration.
If you go for the Debian set, you make a decision to do your own integration.
If you go for a certified distro, you make the decision to believe some else has done the appropriate integration.
