smon is hogging CPU resources

Hi!

With one Oracle8i database on HP-UX 11.00, I've got a problem. Namely, all of a sudden, I find this in the top output:

 0 ? 27234 oracle 234 20 130M 1572K run 5:44 97.97 97.79 ora_smon_DEDB

So, smon is hogging quite a lot of CPU power and is doing so for some time now.

That's not normal, is it?

How can I find out what's going on there?

Thanks,

Alexander Skwar

The biggest difference between time and space is that you can't reuse time.
