Thanx David,

Luckily there are people willing to help each other. What would be the best option; put the tns entry in the primary, standby and oem server tnsnames.ora? And while changing it, should I disable the standby configuration for a minute or so? And after enabling the configuration again, do I need to switch logfiles?

I don't see this issue back in the concepts & adm. guide. Everybody using the wizard creating a standby configuration, will encounter the 'long' log_archive_dest_2. In examples provided on Metalink e.g., it's always like 'service=standby LGWR ASYNC' etc: just like it's "obvious" that this parameter is provided in the tnsnames.ora.

Any discussion will be much appreciated. Received on Wed Oct 18 2006 - 08:24:00 CDT
