You just answered your own question. What you want is irrelevant. If you want TAF or FCF you must use the Oracle layer.

But what's the big deal about whether Oracle provides A and someone else provides B and C or Oracle provides A and B and someone else provides C. If you are afraid of lock-in put your data on 3x5 cards. Otherwise you have no choice but to put your data into someone's bucket. And then the fewer fingers in that bucket the more likely it will be stable and supported.
