I did try applying 9208 on a couple of our systems saturday.

We run hpux 11.11.

One of them it went in smoothly on ( a non RAC system ). The other RAC system it threw lots of link errors.

I ended up backing out both installs while I do some more research. Based on my experiences, it takes a while to get someone knowledgeable involved in an SR and that's not likely to take place on a weekend.

Having backups of your oracle home and oracle inventory is mandatory if you want to be able to backout software installs ( or attempts ) quickly.

For my RAC system, I have 2 theories. First, our system admin have some additional patches on that system that are not on the other systems. So it definitely could be related to that activity. Second though is my guess that oracle may not really be testing RAC installs as well as they could be in the quality assurance part of maintenance releases.

One of the things that you have to do for 9208 is to copy lsnodes from your oracle home bin directory to the /tmp/..../oui/bin directory before getting the list of nodes.

Say what? Isn't this supposed to be the terminal release for 9.2 and it won't even install on RAC without manual efforts? With all the pushing of RAC by oracle one might think that installs for maintenance for it might actually work out of the box.
