Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> uninstalled old version, OUI question
running 9.2.0.5 on Unix AIX5L system. I'm following instructions from
Oracle on how to removed old installations of oracle that the previous
dba left on the server.
They start by having me rename the old directories first to make sure
nothing breaks. That went fine. ex: /app/oracle/product/9.2 and ./8.1.6
and ./8.1.7 I would rename ./8.1.6 and ./8.1.7 to ./O8.1.6 and
./O8.1.7
Then the say to rename the old directory back to the name it was
originally so OUI will recognize it and set your $ORACLE_HOME to the
home directory of the install that you want to remove and then run the
latest version of OUI that you have. So I mv ./O8.1.6 ./8.1.6 and
ORACLE_HOME=/app/oracle/product/8.1.6
export ORACLE_HOME
then /app/oracle/product/92/oui/bin/runInstaller
To my surprise when I get to the inventory screen of the OUI it
displays all the old home directories. the 8.1.6 and the O8.1.7
after I uninstall the 8.1.6 and exit it has created a new directory
name 8.1.7 with what looks like OUI file in it.
Does anyone know why it does this?
