O, the mighty Unix-guru, IO controller is a person, not a thing. In the book "Tommy the tank engine", there is a person called "fat controller". Well, in Unix books there is a person called I/O controller. You should read "Tommy the tank engine", "My pet goat" and "Design & Implementation of BSD 4.4"
