Given that you are headed so far down an unsupported path, at your customer's request apparently, there's not a lot that we can offer you.

In general, "probably" 8.1.6 will be able to be installed onto the OS level you are talking about. Then you can "probably" proceed with exporting out the ( current production data ) and test importing it into it's new ( old and unsupported ) home.

Are you going to patch 8.1.6 after the base install or not?

Make sure that you test test test out your migration several times and after migrating the data over to it's planned new home, that you test out the applications that access the data.

As other people have already noted, better get some signoff's where the customer acknowledges they have been warned about possible dangers in running unsupported. Not to mention all the security exposures. Received on Mon Jan 30 2006 - 15:08:01 CST
