Hi all,

I'm implementing a backup plan for my Oracle databases with RMAN.

I'd like to what's best way to keep backups for 6 months.

What I'm doing currently is;

1.
Backup archived logs on the productions database daily.

2.
Backup database daily on the standby database.

My problem is how to maintain backups for 6 months.

Is setting "recovery windows" to 180 correct ?

Default "recovery window" is 1 day. Does it mean all my backups older than 1 day are useless. Or they can be still used to restore database ?
