I've been following this thread, so please pardon the interruption. A 30 second delay can be symptomatic of a DNS timeout & then failover to a 2nd DNS server.

A quck test would be to modify the TNSNAMES.ORA file to contain the IP#; instead of the hostname. Received on Wed Nov 02 2005 - 11:41:30 CST
