Certification, in and of itself, will "usually" not get you a DBA job although it does happen. As far as the DBA profession goes, there's no substitute for experience. You can't properly function as a DBA without it. Having said that, I believe that certification adds to ones value simply for the fact that to pass the exams, you must get book smart on Oracle fundamentals.
