Eugene you can get white box linux which is a free clone of RHAS enterprise. There are other clones out there also.

There's a bunch of good info about setting up linux in those environments check out www.puschitz.com and www.dizwell.com .

Jeff Hunter has some good info here ...

And I believe Mr. Hunter is in the process of updating his info with 10g release 2 changes ...

Most people will tell you that doing 2 machines with a shared drive is preferable to the one machine way, but one machine is do-able.
