Well if he was accessing two different remote dbs on two different versions, then everything could be different, of course. I can only keep responding to what I was trying to say in my previous post.

How do your comments relate to two different *client* installations?

Even if the OP has installed two completely different RDBMS versions on his local machine to access the same remote database, how is he going to get different execution plans, init parameters etc?
