What I meant by that is that I am collecting stats with dbms_stats, and collecting them into a stats table (stattab=<tablename>, statown=<schema>).

My understanding is that dbms_stats statistics would not be considered by the optimizer until they are imported into the data dictionary with the import_stats function. I had thought that so long as they are held in this external table, they are 'inert'.

Am I incorrect here?

As to the init file, I agree, and am scrutinizing these files right now - I am considering replacing my Test db's init file with the Prod one and only changing what is necessary to make it work. Received on Wed Jul 20 2005 - 18:09:04 CDT
