Hello,

I am learning RMAN.

I was reading about RMAN channels on User guide. It says "An RMAN channel represents one stream of data to a device type and corresponds to one server session." It also says "each channel establishes a connection from the RMAN executable to a target or auxiliary database instance by starting a server session on the instance." The figure in Page 5-3 shows a channel as a connection between RMAN client and target database only. The server session writes from the target database to the media.

So, is channel only for a connection between RMAN and Oracle instance? What is the connection between the instance and the media manager called?
