Sorry, I am new at using a news group. I have been able to resolve issues myself in the past 5 years I have worked with Oracle and it has been a sleepless night. There is nothing in the WBFALRT.log that would indicate an error ( WBF is our SID). The last entry in the log is related to an issue with a Portal user. Sorry for the typo;The version is 8.1.7.0.0. I meant to type oradim.log.

The description I forgot to include is:

ORA-12640:
Authentication adapter initialization failed This error is found in the oradim.log after attempting to start the Oracle Service.

I am receiving the following errors when starting oracle via DBA Studio or SQL+:

Ora-01034 Oracle Not Available
Ora-27101: Shared Memory Realm does not exist

Windows event logs are also clean.
