more than one oracle_home, perhaps?



when you are using sqlplus, what is the names.directory_path in the
sqlnet.ora for that home?



an oracle db inst will use the tnsnames.ora for its respective home -
so that is not necessarily the same oracle client configuration files
as the ones that you are using with sqlplus.
