What about running a client level trace (sqlnet.ora:TRACE_LEVEL_CLIENT)
on the sqlplus session when connecting to db02 directly and a server
level trace (sqlnet.ora: TRACE_LEVEL_SERVER) when connecting to db02
via db01?  Then seeing where the two traces differ?
