Hi

I am trying to send SMTP mail with Oracle using utl_smtp.

The call to the OPEN_CONNECTION and HELO functions work ok, but I fail with 553 Mailbox syntax incorrect
on the call to UTL_SMTP.MAIL

The address given as parameter is just a standard address like 'someone_at_company.com'

I'm not at all familiar with SMTP server configuration. I was told by our mail admin that the firewall does this. And I believe this is ok as the OPEN_CONNECTION call is given the firewall address as a parameter, and seems to work fine (no error).
The machine Oracle is running on, can send SMTP mails with other tools (namely, the OpenVMS MAIL command).

Any help appreciated. I know this is not Oracle specific but there seems not to be an smtp ng.

Thanks
