I guess we can safely agree on this: OEM is a great tool in certain circumstances. Especially when I hadn't found out that the documentation on otn.oracle.com actually can be downloaded in one piece so the SQL Reference is always handy (on my notebook, on the intranet, at home), I used it to learn, or better lookup, the syntax for the job at hand.

However, I soon got into the habit of not letting it do the actual job, but use the 'show SQL' option, copy the sql, do some formatting, e.g. get rid of all those " around table and column names and then, after having learned a thing or two, putting the sql to work (sql*plus).

Nobody disposes a tool that makes a taks easier - at least nobody I know of. But as soon as you know what you're doing (this could be considered as the distinction between DBA and user ;-) ) I'm not sure if this still applies to creating a trigger.

I like to keep a documentation of what I did, because more often than not I'm going to repeat the same thing on the next server - and then I'll beat OEM everytime. But if OEM suits you, that's fine by me. However, asking for help without any precise information such as a skript is not going to be easy.

DOS and IRC? Those where the days, my friend!
