Alex,

Oracle on Solaris, an excellent choice ;-)

With the skills as Solaris admin and Oracle dba there will be a lot of very well paid jobs for you out there!

A tip for installing Solaris (make sure you download the correct version, sparc vs. x86): download only the software 1 of 2 and software 2 of 2 cdrom, the other ones you don't need. Boot and install from software 1 of 2. The install is pretty self-explanatory and straighforward (for either sparc as x86 platform).
