Hi,
I also do Java multimedia on windows xp so I need a all-in-one machine. But I try getting some infos before purchasing. It's very important to run parallel queries on a test machine on 10g to see exactly how much memory is consumed by each slave process. I tried the HP site and started to fill a form to pick the budget parallel server but they're talking about 5000$ for starters. Then I read about Dell Power Edge parallel server supporting Linux (I don't remember if it was Novell Linux) but will it also run XP? So now I'm sure I read a message about the Pentium running Linux in parallel.
Also in Java it's pretty tricky to share a variable between two threads. I read that a multi-threading program that runs fine on one processor could go haywire on two. Maybe the Pentium 4 demonstrates that. Received on Tue Dec 28 2004 - 05:18:41 CST
