You have given plenty of to consider. I took a week of Oracle DBA training but many of the topics were not discussed in detailed. The basic instruction was oracle architecture, using administration tools, managing oracle instance, barley creating a database (no detail at all) etc. As I begin to work with the rdbms I am now realizing was not prepared enough to ask qualitative questions as I am able to now after failing so often. This time I invested a lot of time in reading, talking with seasoned oracle dba's such as yourself, internet researching, and getting a thorough understanding of how all the structures work in sync. That is to just get started and not including administration. I have the os prepared and completed the pre-install steps. I will install the oracle. If I have any well thought out concerns I will return to this usenet group and get my assistance. After having the conversation with the powers that be here, I now realized a great wealth of information was not discussed. This a major project.

Thanks,
