Arun Singh from SuSE has posted a very nice and handy installation guide for SLES9 and Oracle 10.1.0.3.

Try it, it's really not necessary to do the full blown stuff. orarun does this for you.

I do this kind of installation for my production servers.

PS: I did not have any problems with tnslsnr as stated in this guide. I used netca for listener configuration. Nice and easy.
