Ok, what tape library are you using? If you are using TSM(Tivoli
Storage Manager) you can run a tool called tdposync(it is an IBM
tool). It will sync the catalog with the STorage Manager. That is if
you are using TSM and an RMAN catalog. There is also a bug in 8.1.7.1
Oracle I think, that if something is not on tape it errors out
instaead of just marking the backup as invalid. That bug is only on
TSM and 8.1.7.1.
