RMAN Maintenance - running out of backup tapes !

Hello,

we`re running out of free tapes in our lib, because rman (using no catalog, just controlfile) wasn`t synced so far with the catalog of our 3rd party backup software.

It does not provide any tools to do so.
I was told that, by allocating the maintenance channel sbt_tape and doing crosschecks and so on, it should be possible to sync those catalogs/backup informations.

Retention policy is set to 14 days - i`m a bit confused in which order the rman maintenance commands need to be invoked.

can anybody help please ?
