For small sites you can handle the volume with Microsoft's MSDE (free). The
current version is throttled to 8 concurrent processes (3 system and 5
user), but a well-written n-tier application can work well until revenue
picks up and an upgrade to SQL Server Standard is possible ($5K per CPU).
Of course there are negatives, but still a lot better than either MySQL or
MS Access.
p.s. - Not being a troll, just pointing out the often overlooked engine included with Visual Studio. I'm actually agnostic when it comes to Oracle and SQL Server. I only turn funny colors when asked to code against completely Mickey Mouse engines that have no place in a distributed architecture. :-)
