Here's a couple of things to look at ...

http://ovweb.external.hp.com/ovnsmdps/pdf/b6960-90081.pdf

Specifically take a look at chapter 5 "Integrating Data Protector, EMC Symmetrix, and Oracle". (Not updated for 9i but same concepts apply).  RMAN has a proxy copy feature useful in certain rare hardware setups.

EMC has some white paper's on their site ... not doing a great job of keeping them current either.

http://www.emc.com/techlib/abstract.jsp?id=1272

And of course you can dig through some of similar stuff at Oracle if you have metalink access or (probably) stuff posted on tech network.

HJR did not mention (not certain why) RMAN or considerations for putting tablespaces into backup prior to the suspend and breaking mirrors.

As the storage vendors fight it out by continuing to lower costs and provide more standard "EMC like" features (sorry couldnt think of better terminology) the ability to take backups thru RMAN that do not access the "real" (whatever that means) disks (whatever than means) that oracle is currently accessing to take backups will become more and more of a standard feature set.
