The 9205 patchset has some definite quirks on most platforms.

The first question to ask is are you really sure you need it? 9204 is fairly stable ... check out the metalink note on all known issues with 9205 and research any that might impact you.

But here's a couple of hints that might help somewhere as you proceed.

First, follow the directions carefully in the readme.

In particular ...increase shared pool and java pool to 170 meg before attempting the patchset. Make sure those changes are in effect ...

Set all the services for oracle to manual and reboot your server.

Backup your oracle inventory and software.

The patchset goes in after the upgrade of the installer ... you may have to do some funny clicking/selecting of the oracle home to make sure the installer goes into the correct (current 92) home. Don't let it create a new home.

Then do the install of the patchset.

Then upgrade your database.

Follow the readme instructions ... aka bring instance up startup migrate and run the scripts.

Back off the shared pool and java pool sizes if you need to after the upgrade has finished. Received on Fri Aug 20 2004 - 14:40:56 CDT
