Would they?

My understanding is that when you use Data Guard - which continuously receives and applies changes to standby database, requires additional licenses as with normal database.
But if you use "poor man's standby" by transporting archivelogs manually or custom script and recovering on standby site, you don't have to by additional licenses if your standby is open less than 10 days per year?
