Thanks for this, but I think there's been a misunderstanding. I've inherited a system with two databases (each with a single Oracle instance) under 32-bit Oracle, and am not in a position to alter this in the short term. One of the instances has an SGA of 1.7GB, and the other of 0.3GB. When I queried the discrepancy with the third-party supplier I was told that the total of the two SGAs could only be 2GB. I would have assumed that the two areas were completely independent, and that two instances each with up to 2GB SGA were possible. This is what I'm trying to clarify.
