Why "doesn't it work"? Are you receiving error messages? What are they?

If you created an export dump with 8.1.7 exp, you can use the 9.2.0 imp utility to import that dump file. But if you transfer the dump file from one machine to another with FTP, make sure you FTP it in *binary* mode.
